Richie Davidson Ph.D, neuroscientist, studies emotion circuits in the brain, (e.g. the limbic system with a focus on the prefrontal cortex, the amygdala and hippocampus) along with resilience and the effects of meditation.
What he discovered is that marital stress can cause a sort of learned helplessness that can prevent spouses from bouncing back from negative events.
That's the bad news.
The good news is that your brain can rewire itself.
This can be done with special breathing exercises, mental training strategies and things like auto-suggestion and self-hypnosis. We will cover more of how to do that in the next email.
